Flag Fundraiser

For the past several years the Klein Oak Band has been placing American flags in the front yards of homes in certain neighborhoods on national holidays (see below for a list of neighborhoods serviced by the KO band). This is a community service project as well as a fundraiser for the band program at Klein Oak High School. It is really quite a sight to see a street lined with American flags. Those that subscribe to this fundraiser, will not only have the pride that comes from displaying “Old Glory” but they will be providing valuable financial support for the hard-working students of the Klein Oak Band.

For a $35 subscription fee*, subscribers will receive a flag for the following 7 federal holidays**:

Memorial Day
Flag Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Patriot Day
Veterans’ Day
Presidents’ Day

*Any donation above the $35 subscription fee is tax deductible
**Please note, flags will not be displayed in hazardous weather conditions

After subscribing, a PVC-pipe sleeve is installed in the yard and a marker placed on the curb. (The sleeve will be flush with the ground and will not interfere with mowing.) Flags are stored at the school and delivered to residents 1-2 days before the holiday. Flags are picked up and returned to school after the holiday or holiday weekend by band students. (Out of concern for the safety of our students, we cannot deliver or pick up flags during inclement weather).
